Cats HAL 2011

All of the animals below are now in safe and loving homes. It is possible to make a difference...

Daisy

Petals (now Daisy) has found her forever home at an assisted living facility! After caring for her kittens in her foster home, she was ready for a place of her own. While initially shy in her new surroundings she is already having a positive impact on the residents. One relative said of her mother: “From the first day (when Daisy arrived) she has had something new to care about, worry about, think about.  Her language has been better, and we have seen her smile more than she has in the past month.” This caring resident also insisted on being taken to the nearest pet store to welcome Daisy with some new cat toys and treats. Welcome home Daisy!

Oscar

Oscar is now home at last with his new family! When they saw his photo, they knew they liked him. Once they met him, they knew they loved him! In addition to his human family members, Oscar now also enjoys the company of another kitty.

Oakley and Oliver

These two sweet brothers were lucky enough to find a forever home where they can stay together!  What beautiful additions these kitties will make to their new family!

Olivia

Olivia has become a military kitty!  She has found her place as part of a military family, including two girls to love and play with.  As the family's first kitty, they should have many years of happiness to come.

Tyler

This sweet, social and playful boy has found the purr-fect home in Potomac! He was accepted immediately by his new friend, a Bichon Frise named Moritz, and he’s having lots of fun with all 3 children in the house. Tyler loves to show off his skills at playing with a laser pointer and has already impressed his new family with his leaping ability. What a wonderful way to start out the New Year in a loving home all his very own!

Twinkle

Twinkle, now known as Boo, is the perfect addition to his new family! He settled in quickly, glad to have a home of his own. Boo likes to sleep around his new mom's head at night, and despite falling in he is still very curious about the bubbles in bathtub. This gentle kitty and his family are so lucky to have found each other.

Sean

Sean was rescued from a shelter in the Carolinas. He has found a fantastic forever home in Herndon with a family, kids, a hamster and a shih tzu to play with and love! Sean couldn’t be happier to be “home at last!”

Silver

Silver went to a loving new home in Virginia where his only concern will be choosing which child's bed to sleep in each night! Many thanks to the adopters for giving this sweet boy a forever home.

Phineas and Ferb

Phineas (still Phineas) and Ferb (now Isabeau) found a wonderful home with a couple who saw them and fell in love at first sight at an adoption event. Their new mom writes “They're absolutely adorable and already have us wrapped around their paws.” These two sweet and beautiful kitties, who were abandoned in western MD by their original owner, are truly blessed to find such a wonderful fur-ever home!

Ozzy

Kitten Ozzy was adopted by a cat-loving who report that they are in love! His new mom wrote, "Ozwald is already a big part of the family. All the humans have fallen in love with him and the felines have taken to him as well. Our older girl, Hazel, treats him like she treats our other cat-- she's fine until you get a little too close for her liking and then you get bopped on the head. Ozwald has learned quickly how close is too close. The six year old Galaxy is happy to have a playmate I think. Oz and Galaxy are chasing each other, Oz loves to chase Galaxy's tail and when they are worn out they will lay together and clean each other. That to me is the true indication of acceptance. He is really working out so well. I'm thrilled to have him."

Billy Bunter

This sweet boy has a wonderful new home in Gaithersburg after being rescued from a local shelter. Billy has two new devoted parents and a young cat to play with – what more could a handsome kitty want? Welcome home Billy Bunter!

Addie and Forest

Forest and Addie, a brother and sister duo, lucked out and get to spend the rest of their lives together! Adopted by a wonderful Silver Spring family, these kitties will get lots of love from the family and have made friends with Voltaire the bunny. "I just wanted to let you know that the kittens are doing so well in their new home, and I have you to thank for it. They are so fun and loving, we can't believe how lucky we are!" their new mom reports. We are so happy for them all!

Melody

The family that adopted Junno (now Angus) decided that Angus needed a playmate. At an adoption event Melody snuggled immediately into their arms. Her new mom writes: “It has been a joy to watch each of them settle in. Besides being very affectionate with us, both kittens are very interested in new people and cozy right up to them. This speaks very well of the foster homes and whatever the families did to socialize the kittens.” Welcome home Melody!

Fozzy Bear

Sweet, silly Fozzy Bear was reunited with his sister, Little Bird, when Little Bird's adopters decided she needed a friend. Their older cat was not at all amused by her kitten-ish antics, so the logical choice was to add her brother to the family! When Fozzy Bear and Little Bird were originally rescued by PetConnect, they were underweight and malnourished. After they were given lots of love and food (and medicines to make them well), these two kittens delighted their foster family with their chasing, wrestling, and cuddling with one another. And we are so happy they are together in their forever home!

Sushi

Friendly kitty Sushi has found his home with an animal-loving family. His new dad tells us, "Sushi is adjusting quite well. He follows me around the house. He likes talk a lot. He is quite sociable, but everybody is still getting used to him, but no fighting. He never uses his claws except on the scratchy toys. He sleeps with me at night. So it like it like wearing a little cap." Sounds like he is fitting in quite well!

Hula

Hula, the adventuresome kitty, has a home of her own to explore! Her new mom gave us this update, "Hula (now Lily) is doing great, and is still as playful, friendly and fearless as ever. My roommates all love her; she especially likes to visit them in the morning when they're getting ready for work." Hula definitely chose her owner, instead of the other way around, and it looks like she made a great choice!

Beamish

Sometimes rescue kitties get lucky and that’s just what happened to Beamish! While at the shelter to pick up a couple of kittens, PetConnect’s Cat Coordinator met Beamish and knew she had to rescue him. So Beamish, along with five of his friends went to his new foster home. Once there, he instantly charmed both his foster parents so much, that they decided to adopt him! His forever home in Silver Spring has two dogs and other kitties for Beamish to play with and two loving parents to call his own. Welcome home Beamish!

Tennnessee

Lovely Tennessee (now renamed Lilly) wasn’t sure what she had done wrong to find herself in a cage at the shelter. Luckily she was spotted by her new mom, who adopted Alfi from PetConnect in the spring and was in search of a kitty to foster and maybe adopt as a companion for him. When Lily came to their house, she marched out of the carrier tail held high and eager to explore. Her new mom says “Lily’s joie de vivre is really infectious – she is just so happy to be alive! Thanks to PetConnect, we were fortunate to have these two special kitties enter our home and hearts!”

Junno

Adorable Junno, renamed Angus, is living in Silver Spring with two very loving, caring and experienced cat parents. They were looking for a black kitten to fall in love with, but Junno/Angus, a "teenager" in cat years, stole their hearts with his relaxed and loving demeanor. Angus' parents are dedicated to his overall health and well-being, and transitioned him to an organic diet of raw food - the way felines eat in the wild! His future is bright with his forever parents at his new forever home.

Cayenne

Cayenne wants to say thanks to PetConnect for rescuing her and her siblings from a local shelter, then patiently waiting for her purrfect forever home. She just loves all her new windows to watch the hustle and bustle of Pentagon City. She is also very happy that her new Mom is willingly sharing her bed, so she thinks its only fair to bring her toys on to the bed to share with her new Mom. Cayenne is happy to be out of the shelter, healthy, and home at last.

Cindy Lou Who and Kyoshi

These two beauties were in need. The wonderful people who adopted them found themselves unable to keep their beloved kitties, so PetConnect was there to help, as we are committed to the well-being of all our adopted animals. Sometimes life doesn't go the way you planned, but Cindy Lou and Kyoshi are now the stars of their new home in Upper Marlboro where they will both give and receive lots of love!

Virginia and Lucasta

These two sisters were rescued from a Maryland shelter with 4 other kittens. Now renamed Paloma and Laetitia, they are enjoying their new home in Bethesda and settling in nicely. The resident cat in the house wasn’t sure to make of these little ones at first, but everyone is getting along well now. Paloma and Laetitia are delighted to be home for the holidays!

Patrick

Cute little Patrick is happily living in Bethesda and loving his forever family. A sweet young lady fell in love with Patrick at an adoption event. Her family recently moved into their house and wanted to make their house a home by welcoming a warm fuzzy kitty. Now their home is complete!

Maggie May

Cute Maggie Mae has hit the jackpot! From her meager beginnings living on a shelf of someone's gas grill in West Virginia, she now has it made. Adopted by a cat loving family, she's joined four other kitties in a home with lots of toys, windows, cat trees and best of all, love! Maggie will have lots to purr about now.

Stan

The kind woman who adopted kittens Winter and Spring from PetConnect a couple of years ago contacted us about Stanley. He had been dumped and was trying to survive in the bushes outside her office complex. With the assistance of many good samaritans, Stanley is now happily living indoors. He is healthy and safe. And Winter and Spring are getting used to their new "baby brother"!

Star

Beautiful Star caught her foster mom's eye at a local shelter. Star lived in her foster family's home for over a year and became comfortable around "her" people as long as they played by her rules. A curious, but shy cat, Star did not do well at adoption events and she never became a highly socialized or lap cat. The right adopter is out there for every animal, no matter what her circumstances, and the right adopter for Star finally came along. Star is getting used to her new home and its other animal inhabitants, but she will settle in quickly because her new mom knows all about shy kitties and purposely chose Star. What a lucky cat!

Beetle and Midnight

These two kitties were in different foster homes, but their adoptive family met them at the same time during an adoption event. Mom fell in love with pretty Midnight and one of the sons fell in love with handsome Beetle. Although the family was only planning to adopt one kitten, they decided to adopt both sweet babies. Now the kitties have each other as playmates and the family is very happy with both of them. Beetle and Midnight are helping their new family cope with the recent loss of their beloved family cat. Animals are such terrific therapy.

Jetta

Jetta was at an adoption event, reaching a paw out of her cage hoping to catch the eye of a passerby. Her new mom and dad knew immediately that she would make the perfect addition to their family. Delighted to be in her new Gaithersburg home, Jetta loves supervising activities in the kitchen while her mom cooks and keeps both her adopted parents laughing with her kitten antics! Hurray for Jetta!

Little Bird

This pretty miss weighed only 7 ounces when she came to PetConnect Rescue from a SC shelter. Weighing in now at 4 pounds, she has certainly come a long way! Little Bird impressed us all with her playful spirit. She worked hard to become healthy and to gain strength. She very happy in her forever home in Leesburg and actually sat still long enough to allow her photo to be taken. And Little Bird has a 12 year old girl who just adores her. Way to go, Little Bird!!

Marshall

Marshall went from being born on a gas grill in West Virginia to curling up on warm lap in Silver Spring! This exceptionally sweet boy now has it made in a loving forever home, with all the lap time he could want. Congratulations to Marshall and his new mom!

Chloe

Chloe's adopter was initially interested in adopting one of Chloe's kittens, but Chloe stole her heart. Rescued from a shelter the day before she gave birth to 6 beautiful kittens, Chloe is incredibly grateful for human kindness. She showed her new mom how sweet and affectionate she is and it was love at first meeting. Chloe now happily resides in Rockville, MD.

Stormy

Stormy is one of PetConnect's original rescues from Hurricane Katrina. After five years, her adopters decided they wanted to travel a great deal, so Stormy was returned to us. She was in a foster home for a while, but Stormy has now found her forever home in Washington, D.C. In no time at all, Stormy settled into her new abode and became her new mom's shadow. We are all so happy for Stormy!

Eva has also met her big sister kitty (Ruby), who has not yet made up her mind if she's going to allow yet another kitty into her life. (We're sure she will. He is SOOOO affectionate and cuddly, and yet showed absolutely NO stress at the initial bumps of getting to know fellow Gardiner kitten Sophie and grown and gentle but much bigger Gardiner dog Samwise. Now, of course, they are all best of friends and Tucker snoozes and purrs with us at night and tumbles around with Sophie by day. Miracle

Miracle's story is certainly miraculous! The shelter called him (bonky) "Donkey" because he expressed affection with head butts (bonks). He was transported by a miracle woman who devotes her life to driving rescued animals (although she has sadly lost her home). Miracle instantly won over his foster mom who provided his new name and Miracle was the favorite 4-legged at the vet's office. Miracle charmed his new humans when they met at the Kingsbrook Animal Hospital Open House and Adoption Event. Miraculously, another PetConnect cat foster is his new next-door-neighbor. In his new Frederick home, he staked out "his" space on the sofa and is getting along well with his cat siblings. Miracle's adopters only adopt black cats because they know these cats wait the longest for adoption and are the most euthanized in shelters. Miracle is now called Silas and he is thoroughly enjoying his forever home and family. Mosby is just an absolute sweetheart, and he has helped to fill the void left when my older cat, Tigger died. The boy has quite a purr on him, and he purrs alot. I can guarantee you this little fellow has a forever home with me."  What a lucky boy he is!!

His new home has a gorgeous backyard garden with a fishpond and large glass doors through which he views all of the wildlife activity. Padmé

Talk about 9 lives! Padmé has "reinvented" herself so many times, we've lost count. Found living outdoors by a good samaritan, this sweet girl came into the PetConnect foster system with her two older kittens. Her kittens were quickly adopted, so Padmé "adopted" a litter of orphaned nursing kittens who needed a mom. When those kittens were grown and adopted, Padmé went to another foster home. As it turns out, her foster mom's niece fell in love with her, so she is now living with a family who is giving her all the love and care she deserves for taking such good care of all the kittens she raised. Lovely, petite, and very shy Gizmo requires an extremely patient human who is willing to wait for her to stop hiding and start trusting. She found this person in Rockville, MD. Gizmo's adopter is a nice and compassionate man who fell in love with Gizmo's photo and wanted to meet her, even though she is an "acquired taste." It is only a matter of time before Miss Gizmo and her person form a close bond. We know that Gizmo is grateful and will soon be showing her gratitude to her adopter.
