Student VolunteersThere are many things you can do to help PetConnect Rescue, no matter your age. Big or small, your contributions and efforts on behalf of animals will always make a difference. You can get community service hours and save animals at the same time. Read below for the stories of some of our youngest volunteers!
Marli Abramowitz, whose generosity is far greater than her age, is pictured at left with her dog Annie, who was adopted from PetConnect Rescue in 2009. Only 13 years old, Marli not only organized a pet-supply collection drive at her school, but also used pet rescue as a theme for her Bat Mitzvah! She donated a huge amount of items including crates, collars and toys. In addition, she gave PetConnect a percentage of the money that she received as gifts. Thank you, Marli, for raising awareness and making such huge donations to animals in need!
Pictured at right, Kate Frye of Thomas Pyle Middle School, Bethesda, chose PetConnect Rescue for her Student Service Learning* project. She set up a table outside of the Westwood Pet Center (with their permission, of course) and raised awareness of our mission of dog and cat rescue. She also sold raffle tickets and collected generous monetary contributions and pet supplies to benefit our deserving animals. This was more than a school project for Kate…it was her chance to make a difference. We at PetConnect thank her!
