After a visit to the vet and a round of x-‐rays, it was determined that Bradley has a poorly healed hip injury (likely from being hit by a car). The bones in Bradley’s left hip and pelvis grind together as he moves, making walking and playing very painful. Bradley’s hip can be repaired with Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO). This is a surgical procedure that removes the femoral head and neck from the femur. FHO surgery is performed to alleviate pain. It is a salvage procedure, reserved for condition where pain can not be alleviated in any other wayFHO surgery, but, unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is about $500. This does not include costs associated with medications he may need or physical therapy post surgery. Please consider making a difference in this dog's life. Eliza’s foster noticed that her urine had a strong, foul smell. At first, the vet started her on antibiotics, suspecting a urinary tract infection; however, this did not solve Eliza’s problems. Eliza was referred to VRA in Gaithersburg, MD. We now have a diagnosis. Eliza has a congenital condition called ectopic ureters, common with Retriever breeds. The good news is that Eliza's condition can be repaired surgically. The bad news is that the procedure will cost over $3000. Please consider making a difference in this dog's life.
