Cat of the Month – Algernon!

If ever a cat deserved a loving forever home, it’s Algernon. He was rescued from a home where he had been neglected for years. Left to live in a dark, filthy basement, he had contact with people only briefly once a day when someone came to the home to feed him and his siblings (A hoarder who could no longer maintain her house, his owner hadn’t lived in the home for more than two years). Sadly, insufficient food was provided for the cats, and they had to compete to get enough to eat. Algernon was thin and had some minor health issues that may have been due to malnutrition when he was brought to the shelter. Happily, he is now healthy and this awful experience did not turn him against people. In fact, he is an amazingly sweet and gentle cat. With people he knows and trusts, he is very affectionate, loves to be petted and kissed, and will happily curl up on a lap and purr his heart out. He is still afraid of strangers so needs to go to a home where his adopter understands that he’ll need time to settle in and learn to trust. It’s guaranteed, though, that Algernon will pay back his adopter with a lifetime of love and devotion. Algernon also really likes other cats, as you can see in the picture of him with his foster brother, Alvin.

The adoption fee for a cat is $150, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This does not include the cost of spay/neuter. If your kitten is not spayed or neutered at the time of adoption, you will be required to sign a contract obligating you to ensure this procedure is performed. PetConnect also collects a $100 spay/neuter deposit which will be refunded after the procedure is performed.
Cats adopted through PetConnect Rescue must be indoor only, and may not be declawed (unless already declawed at the time of rescue).

***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered and examined annually by your vet.***
